OPINIÃO
Acabei de ler este livro a 4 de julho; dou-lhe três estrelas, embora tivesse estado indecisa entre três e quatro.
Sempre gostei bastante do Egipto e a a história da rainha Cleópatra sempre me fascinou, por isso quando vi esta trilogia da Margaret George não hesitei em requisitar o primeiro volume.
Gostei do início, que começa com a infância de Cleópatra, e as coisas correram bem até meio. No entanto, a partir daí, deixei de gostar tanto, pelo que saltei algumas partes, centrando-me mais nos diálogos. A verdade é que, embora a escrita da autora seja cativante, ela tem imensa palha no livro, coisas que não interessam e não contribuem em nada para a história. Se se centrasse nos dados principais, o livro teria metade do tamanho e não perderia qualidade por isso. A este ponto pensarão “mas porque escolhe ela livros tão grandes se depois reclama do tamanho?”. Não importa o tamanho, mas o conteúdo e, às vezes, os autores perdem-se em devaneios que acabam por nos aborrecer. Comigo, aconteceu-me isto neste caso. Por essa razão, vou deixar a história da rainha do Nilo por aqui e não vou ler nenhum dos volumes seguintes.

I finished this book on July 4th; I rate it three stars, though I had been torn between three and four.
I always quite liked the story of Egypt and Queen Cleopatra has always fascinated me, so when I saw this trilogy of Margaret George, I did not hesitate in requesting the first volume to the public library.
I liked the beginning, starting with the childhood of Cleopatra, and things went well until half. However, from then on, I didn’t like it that much, so I skipped some parts, centering more in the dialogues. The truth is that, although the author's writing is captivating, she has immense unnecessary data in the book, things that don’t matter nor contribute anything to the story. If she would focus on key data, the book would be half the size and not lose quality at all. At this point you might think "why does she choose books so big and then complains about its size?". It doesn’t matter the size, but the content and sometimes authors get lost in daydreams that eventually annoy us. To me, it happened in this case. Therefore, I’ll stop the story of the Queen of the Nile here and I will not read any of the following volumes.
