Opinião| Review: "Need", Carrie Jones

SINOPSE

SYNOPSIS

Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.
She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.
In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you'd have to fear.

É cativante e desperta o interesse do leitor.

REVIEW
I finished reading "Need" on 8th February 2012 and I give it the maximum rating: 5 stars!
It was a quick book to read - it took me pratically two days to do so! It’s captivating and awakens the reader's interest. I always wanted to know more! I confess I was a little hesitant when I learnt that the story involved pixies. After my disappointment with Aprilynne Pike’s books, I admit that I don’t see with good eyes stories involving fairies or the like. I’m glad I found "Need"; Carrie Jones restored me a little faith in such creatures. The inclusion of metamorphos was also a point in favor – that way, not everything goes around the same kind of paranormal beings.
The fact that there are so many phobias listed is interesting, because it allows us to get to know a little better its dictionary.
As for the romance between Nick and Zara, I found it interesting. Of course it follows the cliché of falling for each other right away, yet the moments of tension between them were exciting and made me think "but when the hell is he going to kiss her?"
What I liked least is related to… now the question arises: is it a matter related to the original text or the translation? There are many short sentences followed by paragraphs; I don’t like this style... At last, in some situations I had trouble identifying who was speaking. I reread the sentences several times, but it was difficult to reach a conclusion – I just ignored and moved on.
