Acabei de ler este livro a 2 de junho de 2012; dou-lhe três estrelas.
Tinham-me dito que o primeiro volume da série “O Mago” era o mais aborrecido, mas, se continuasse, receberia a recompensa de uma narrativa melhor. Bem, parece que a recompensa ficou pelo caminho. Continuei a aborrecer-me, o autor continuou a alongar-se nas suas explicações… Acabei por passar das quatro estrelas do primeiro volume para apenas três. Acho que já tive dose suficiente de “O Mago”; não devo ler os outros livros com esta saga.

I finished reading this book on June 2, 2012; I rate it three stars.
I was told that the first volume of the series "Magician" was the most boring, and I kept reading, I would receive the reward of a better narrative. Well, it seems that the reward was forgotten somewhere in the way. It continued to annoy me, the author continued to stretch in his explanations... I ended up shorting the four stars rating of the first volume to just three. I think I've ever had sufficient dose of "Magician"; I probably won’t read the other books in this saga.

Acabei de ler “O Mago – Aprendiz” a 27 de maio de 2012. Dou-lhe 4 estrelas.

Ouvi opiniões dissonantes quanto a este ser um livro bom ou não, mas decidi arriscar. Gostei do início: corria a um bom ritmo, aconteciam coisas novas, a estória estava a desenvolver-se. Mais ou menos a partir da página 200 o caso mudou de figura: entrou-se num ciclo repetitivo em que a narrativa não saía do mesmo sítio. Houve demasiadas paragens por reinos, as batalhas eram sempre as mesmas… cansei-me. Confesso que passei apenas os olhos por algumas páginas tal não era o meu enfado. Apesar disso, mantenho as quatro estrelas pela capacidade criativa do autor. Quanto à tradução, tenho dizer que não gostei da mistura com o Novo Acordo Ortográfico. Acredito que o livro foi traduzido na época de transição, mas ou adotavam um ou outro; ver as duas formas juntas confunde quem se está a tentar adaptar, independentemente de concordar ou não com as mudanças linguísticas operadas.

I finished reading "Magician – Apprentice (The Riftwar Saga 1)" on May 27, 2012. I rate it 4 stars.

I heard dissenting opinions about this being a good book or not, but I decided to risk it. I liked the beginning: it ran on a good pace, new things happened, the story was developing. More or less on page 200 things began to change: we entered into a repetitive cycle in which the narrative would not leave the same site. There were too many stops in kingdoms, battles were always the same... it tired me. I confess that I only looked at some pages such was my boredom. Nevertheless, I keep the four stars rating due to the creative ability of the author. As for the translation, I have to say I didn’t like the mixing with the New Orthographic Agreement. I think the book was translated in the transition period, but they should have adopted one or the other. To see the two forms together confuses who is trying to adapt, whether you agree or not with the language changes operated.
