Acabei de ler “Cobiça” a 13 de junho de 2012; dou-lhe quatro estrelas.
Este foi o primeiro livro que li de JR Wards. Achei que a autora tem um estilo muito masculino, ou seja, escreve a estória quase como se fosse um homem. Talvez isto se deva ao facto da personagem principal ser um homem, quem sabe?
Gostei, no geral. É uma narrativa que recupera a luta entre o bem e o mal, entre anjos e demónios. Creio que é um tema que tem muito que explorar se se souber enveredar pelo caminho certo.
O que mais me agradou foi o romance adicionado. De início parecia uma estória desprovida de sentimentos desse género, no entanto acaba por surgir um par romântico com umas quantas imagens gráficas à mistura. Contudo, achei que se apaixonaram demasiado depressa. Como a própria autora escreveu, foi “atração cósmica instantânea”; porém, daí a três dias estavam a afirmar com todas as certezas que se amavam. Ena! Que tal um pouco de calma?
Houve partes que achei confusas ou, talvez, forçadas. Foi uma sensação com que fiquei, por exemplo, em algumas cenas em que entram os anjos motoqueiros. Outra coisa que achei desnecessária foi o acrescento da clarividência à personagem de Vin. Ele bem podia ser uma personagem ao jeito do velho avarento Scrooge; não era preciso acrescentar-lhe algo de paranormal, a sua avareza e desprendimento da vida já eram razões para lutar para lhe salvar a alma.
Independentemente disto, gostei do Jim. Ao estilo dele, é um “filho da mãe” interessante, pelo que vou tentar seguir as suas próximas aventuras.

I finished reading “Covet” on June 13, 2012. I rate it four stars.
This was the first book I read by JR Ward. I found the author has a very masculine style, ie, the story almost seems written by a man. Perhaps this is because the main character is a man, who knows?
I liked it overall. It is a narrative that recovers the struggle between good and evil, angels and demons. I think this is a topic that has much to explore if you are able to go down the right track.
What pleased me most was the added romance. At first, it seemed a story devoid of feelings of this kind; however, a romantic couple showed up with a few graphics to the mix. Nevertheless, I thought they fell in love too quickly. As the author herself wrote, it was a "cosmic instant attraction". But three days later they were saying with all certainty that they loved each other? Wow! How about slowing down a little bit?
There were parts that I found confusing, or perhaps forced. It was a feeling I got, for example, in some scenes where entered the angels who were bikers. Another thing I thought unnecessary was to add clairvoyance to the character of Vin. It could well be a character to the way the old miser Scrooge; it was not necessary to add him something paranormal - his greed and selflessness of life were already reasons to fight to save his soul.
Regardless, I liked Jim. In his style, he’s an interesting “son of a bitch”, so I’ll try to follow his next adventures.
